Purpose of Training Support Materials

Purpose
To help meet training needs in short courses, diplomas or degree course units in plant genetic resources conservation and use.

Audience
Trainers and trainees participating in the above training.

The training support materials developed here are not intended to form a detailed, exhaustive guide to the subject area. Since they are intended for use in a variety of situations, they have been designed to form a "routemap" through the subject area. The standard package of materials comprises (as appropriate):

Where a unit has a strong practical element, practical exercises are also supplied. It is felt that such a framework allows individual trainers to tailor training activities according to their needs, experiences and preferences. In particular, the lecture support notes are in the form of succinct summaries of the principal themes, allowing individual trainers to adapt or expand these to their particular situation.
