Measurable indicators have been identified to monitor progress in establishing and strengthening national programs as a result of IPGRI’s work in the region. Research is the driving force behind IPGRI’s work through joint research activities within the region. |

The CWANA team is composed of 30 staff members based in Aleppo-Syria, Tashkent-Uzbekistan, Touzer-Tunisia and Ghardaia-Algeria. Members participate in the work of a Regional Project as well as other six thematic projects' activities, such as (Forest genetic resources), (Linking conservation and use) and (In situ/on-farm conservation). The Regional Project entitled “Building sustainable national plant genetic resources programmes and regional networks in Central and West Asia and North Africa” has eight activities that encompass most of the work undertaken by IPGRI in the region. |

Plant Genetic Resources as a component of natural resources in the arid and semiarid ecosystems is managed in an efficient, sustainable and equitable way for the benefit of present and future generations.
