Networking in APO region There are many networks on forest genetic resources operating in the APO region. There are species specific as well as regional and global forestry networks.

Forest Genetic Resources Tropical forests provide a wide range of products and services. The role of these forests is especially important for the subsistence of people living in or nearby the forests. The overall objective of IPGRI's FGR Programme is to support strategic and coordinated research to support conservation, sustainable use and management of FGR for present and future generations.

Bamboo & Rattan Bamboo and rattan (BR) are two important non-wood forest products (NWFP) of major relevance supporting the livelihood of millions of people in the APO region. IPGRI's bamboo and rattan genetic resources activities aimed at strengthening National programmes to assist in the conservation and sustainable use of these two economic NWFP.
