| The CGIAR
System-wide Information Network for Genetic Resources (SINGER) is the
genetic resources information exchange network of the Centres of the Consultative Group on International
Agricultural Research (CGIAR). It provides access to information on the
collections of genetic resources held by the CGIAR Centres. Together,
these collections comprise over half a million samples of crop, forage and
tree germplasm of major importance for food and agriculture.
SINGER links the genetic resources databases of the CGIAR Centres and allows simultaneous searches for information concerning the identity, source, characteristics and transfer of the genetic resources in the individual Centre collections. SINGER is an activity of the CGIAR System-wide Genetic Resources Programme (SGRP) for which IPGRI is the convening Centre. Efforts are underway to extend SINGER to provide access to Centre databases related to animal, aquatic and forest genetic resources.
