COGENT is currently developing a database on coconut literature - Coconut Literature Infobase (CLI)

The database will identify, source, document and disseminate publications and information on completed and ongoing researches in national, regional and global programmes from member countries, partner institutions and donors. A list of published articles and other reference information will be provided to coconut researchers worldwide either through print or electronic media regularly. This will be done in collaboration with the information unit of IPGRI, BUROTROP and APCC. The Coconut Literature Infobase will be set up at IPGRI – APO regional office in Serdang, Malaysia.

Among the materials available are annual reports of partner institutions or institutions dealing with coconut, journals, newsletter, list of articles by coconut researchers (published or unpublished) and books on coconut and related matters.

CLI will be made available in the COGENT webpage. Visitors would be able to conduct a search for the available materials through titles, authors, subjects, country and keywords.

The bibliographic list of materials contained in the CLI have been printed and sent to more than 15 COGENT member countries together with a request for additional materials. Electronic copies of the bibliography have been sent to the other member countries with a similar request. The Infobase will also be posted on the COGENT webpage so that researchers can search for available information on coconut genetic resources and request for copies from the author, COGENT Secretariat or the relevant institutions or libraries where it is also available. On a periodic basis, the Infobase will be upgraded, copied onto CD-ROM and sent to those who do not have Internet connection.
