IPGRI has been on the World Wide Web since 1996.
This Web site launched in July 2000 updates and consolidates information from the previous site and adds several new features and information resources, within a thematic approach. Its contents do not currently reflect the breadth of IPGRI’s activities; as not all the subject areas or the many plant genetic resources networks in which IPGRI participates are covered. IPGRI will continue to  develop gradually the Web site in order to provide relevant and useful information. Information on new materials can be found on the What’s New page. To get an idea of the breadth of IPGRI’s activities the reader is directed to IPGRI’s Annual Report and our Strategy, Diversity for Development

Languages
Materials on the current web site are generally in English. Some IPGRI Publications are available in French and Spanish . Information resources in other languages (French, Spanish, and Russian) can be reached from the Search page on the top navigation bar.

Databases
Databases are used to organize the information on the Web site by theme, and to publish content for some areas of the Web site such as the Publications Catalogue, the Links directory or the Staff directory.
